Southwest Idaho Healthcare Coalition

Each of the seven Health Districts in Idaho has established a “Healthcare Coalition”. The purpose of the Healthcare Coalition is to encourage the development of partnerships of the community’s healthcare organizations and response partners. These partnerships are essential for ensuring the coordination of preparedness, response, and recovery activities associated with a local or regional disaster. The coalition should include representatives from the following services:

  • Hospitals and other healthcare providers
  • EMS
  • Emergency management
  • Long-term care providers
  • Mental and behavioral health providers
  • Hospital associations
  • Specialty service providers (Dialysis, Pediatrics, Women’s health, outpatient surgery, and urgent care providers)
  • Support service providers
  • Primary care providers
  • Community health centers
  • Public health
  • Tribal healthcare
  • Federal entities (NDMS, VA Hospitals, and DOD facilities)
  • Local and state law enforcement
  • Fire services
  • Public works
  • Volunteer organizations (Red Cross, Medical Reserve Corps)

The healthcare coalition in coordination with emergency management and public health develop a plan to ensure that healthcare organizations are represented in incident management decisions during a disaster or other emergencies.

Multi-agency coordination will ensure:

  • Healthcare organization coordination with the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
  • Healthcare organization coordination with incident managers on the scene of the disaster
  • Information sharing between healthcare organizations and common press releases
  • Resource support for coalition member organization.

Health District 3 Coalition encompasses healthcare agencies and emergency responders located in: Adams, Washington, Payette, Gem, Canyon, and Owyhee counties.
